What is Thermography?
Since 1972, Breast Thermography has been utilized as an advanced medical diagnostic technique that uses a digital infrared camera and high speed computer for imaging. It measures body tissue heat energy. Generally, 'problem areas' show high temperatures due to increased blood flow and increased metabolic activity.
What are the major benefits of thermography?
Timeliness
Tissue changes and dysfunction can be found before structural abnormalities are seen on conventional mammograms. With early detection, we enable the best possible outcomes.
Inclusive
The whole chest, breast and armpit area is examined. Mammography can only examine the frontal portion of the breast (the area that is 'squeezed') and therefore leaves a great potential to miss critical areas of disease detection. In addition, thermography is useful for all breast types such as young or dense breast tissue, fibrocystic conditions and woman on HRT. This is not always the case when dealing with mammography.
Precise
Thermography can locate the exact problem area allowing for more precise focus with other medical diagnostic tests such as ultrasound, mammogram and MRI
No Risk
No harmful x-rays are emitted so it can be done as often as needed without risk
No Pain
No squeezing, no pressure, no touching by equipment or technician is necessary.
In summary, the technology allows a non-invasive, non-squeeze approach to detecting breast disease at a functional level rather than a structural level. What this means is that, Breast Thermography is the earliest detection method known today as it can detect early breast tissue changes, before it reaches the level of a cancerous lesion. This allows you to take action through natural methods to reverse and heal the dysfunction, before it becomes critical.
As we currently know, breast cancer rates have increased by 40% between 1973 and 1998. These statistics imply that current methods have not been effective in gaining ground against breast cancer.
