Yoga

Yoga is a system of education for the body, mind, and soul. The art of Yoga was created and practiced in ancient India, thousands of years ago, and due to its universal truths, it is a timeless value. Yoga may be practiced by anyone disregarding race, religion, sex, age, culture... it is for the wellbeing of all humans!

Yoga philosophy states that the physical body is just a vehicle for the soul. The practice itself is a means to break through the layers of the physical and spiritual body limitations. When one achieves such a state, the life force energy and the soul mingle and become one, also known as enlightenment. The path of yoga is a life long journey towards joy and happiness in all aspects of life!

Benefits of Yoga

  • Postural correction
  • Reduced hypertension and improved cardiovascular function
  • Increased flexibility and range of motion
  • Increased mental clarity and energy levels
  • Pain management

Gentle Hatha Yoga

Gentle Hatha Yoga is the practice of combining a series of physical postures and movements with mindful breathing in order to improve over all wellbeing. The physical postures, referred to as asanas, work to increase flexibility and range of motion while increasing strength, stability and vitality. Mindful breathing is a tool used to settle and focus the mind, to relax the body and lower heart rate, resulting in a calmed nervous system. A calmed nervous system is an essential component to any physical, mental, or spiritual healing process.

When gentle yoga postures are combined with mindful breathing and a guided relaxation period, the result is a beautiful sense of peace and wellness. Furthermore, skills learned from practicing yoga can be applied outside of class, resulting in an increased ability to cope with daily life stressors.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga is a dynamic system combining breathing, movement, stretching meditation, the use of sound and rhythm, relaxation and meditation. Each class usually entails spine and flexibility warm-ups, a specific sequence for the energy or day at hand, and a relaxation and meditation. There are literally thousands of exercise sets and meditations in this system.

Kundalini, from the Sanskrit, meaning coiled-up, refers to a latent energy force in us which is the catalyst for all forms of self-healing, higher cognition, and creative genius. Kundalini Yoga is a technology whereby this energy can be gracefully accessed. Although labels differ, spiritual methodologies from many cultures recognize and revere this same energy of Spirit. This system helps us compensate for the stresses of life so we can be healthy, happy, and fulfilled.

In Kundalini Yoga we want to proceed with the realization that our true strength comes from within. We want to go beyond muscular strength alone, to faith in the flow of spirit. In light of this, breakthroughs become a way of life. Kundalini Yoga recognizes that a strong nervous system, and healthy glandular system, are pre-requisites to live a life of celebration discipline and radiance.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a form of 'active relaxation'. The yoga student is helped to move into deeply restorative yoga postures, often with the use of props, in order to both open and relax the body. The purpose is to invite specific physiological responses that enable physical rejuvenation while reducing stress and fatigue. It is especially helpful for people dealing with limiting physical and mental health issues.

Morning Sadhana

The word Sadhana means daily personal practice. It is a 2.5 hour morning practice, which includes yoga, meditation/mantra and prayer and it is conducted between the hours of 4 and 6:30 am. The ancient yogic teachings are that if you can give selflessly to your practice for 2.5 hours each day (a form of spiritual tithing of one-tenth of your day), this is a way to serve your soul and in serving your soul, you serve your destiny. A committed practice will assist you in your service and aligning opportunities for your growth and expansion.

If you are curious about the early time, it is because in the 2.5 hours prior to the sun rise, the earth's electromagnetic field is most conducive to clearing soul karma. If you can get past all the reasons why this may seem ridiculous I can assure you it will be worth your while and it will provide you with the energy you need to carry you through your day. Even with less sleep, you will be amazed at the potency of this practice.

There is no financial cost associated with this practice and anyone is welcome to join. Just come to the studio doors at the rear of the parking lot at 4 am and enjoy a beautiful experience.
